TATA SELO By: Rogelio Sikat

                    I feel pity for Tata Selo, I pity a murderer like him. Even though murder is a crime, I can't help but pity Tata Selo. I also feel sad an angered that the reality of injustice can push even old frail men to do most heinous of things such as murder. I pity him for experiencing cruelities such as having his land taken due to poverty, being physically assualted and going to prison for defending himself. The Tata Selo's Story by Rogelio Sikat represents a reality wherein the social rank of a person differs the way of treatment he or she receives in that certain society. Tata Selo embodied the life of a mere commoner with an underprivileged way of living  due to certainpersonal matters. 

                    Meanwhile Kabesang Tano personifies a person in that certain society that has a high ranking and fortunate ones that exploits his power. This slaps the reality that if you are only "that" ordinary person, you will value less that that of an eminent importance one.  While reading the story, I've been thinking that what if the story was not written in that way, the story can lighten up in it's own way because of the tragedies that occurred in it based on reality, cruel acts, injustices, rape, murder, and battered old man cam solicit sympathy no matter how their story was told.  As a young person of this generation, I were to withstand into promoting equality rights since we are in a democratic country, it should be applied. This generation also envisions to have a well-mannered "millenials" who are to be advocates in change.
